Men’s Prayer - Monday morning

By John

After a good night’s sleep, the men were up early on Monday morning, washed and dressed to start the day with prayer at 7.00 am. As the sun rose over the mountains, we made our way through the trees to the small chapel where about thirty men gathered and sat on a circle of chairs to share in a time of prayer and reflection.

We were led in an opening prayer, and then heard bible passages from Proverbs 24:3-4; 1 Corinthians 3:6-20; and James; on the theme of building, planting and wisdom. We reflected on the fact that historically men have taken on the roles as builders, both physically and in churches. A number of those present shared their thoughts about how we can be builders and encouragers of faith; how we need to set those firm foundations, rooted in Christ Jesus, and grow faith, in wisdom, and in love.

Then followed a short time of prayer as we broke into threes, to share our thoughts, to pray for one another, the day ahead, and the people we would encounter. Back as a whole group, we sang and prayed once more.

We left the chapel as brothers, united in Christ, ready for the week ahead, and ready for breakfast…
