8am and Alice, Pippa and Rachel headed off for ladies prayer (very thankful that it was an hour later than the men’s!)
We all shared our names before listening to a worship song to help us get into the right mood and his presence.
At ladies prayer each week, praise points and prayer points are shared which is a great opportunity to hear what is going on in peoples lives and also the wider Hands Community! We added Chris onto the list for this next week!
After thanking God for the praise points and praying for the prayer points - Brooke shared with us a passage that she had been reflecting on. It was from James Chapter 1.
“My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing.”
James 1:2-4 NRSV
Brooke shared that God meets us in our struggle and pain. We also discussed righteous anger, particularly in relation to when we hear stories of girls in the community being abused. We then talked about how to channel our righteous anger, own challenges and sorrows into igniting a fight for change and also to encourage/empathise with others in a similar situation. Finally we got into small groups and shared a challenge that we had faced and the goodness that has come out of it.

May God be with you in the challenges and opportunities during your time in SA
ReplyDeleteThank you for that passage, it seemed to strike a note with me, especially all the different procedures and pain that I have gone through lately and yet I seem to remain positive and I know that that positivity comes from God. Praise God. Hope you all enjoyed women’s prayer!!
