Africa 2019
Happy New Year! During 2019 we are continuing our
partnership with ‘Hands at Work’ and
the community of Mafambisa meaning New Year, New Team. 2019 will be an exciting
one for 6 of the St. Andrews community. Alice and Chris Parker will be leading
the team out to South Africa. Chris and Alice will be joined by Alice Scott,
who has been out to South Africa twice before, first in 2015 with ‘The Room’ and subsequently in 2017.
Clarrie Scott and Oliver Dilley, who are returning to South Africa and
Mafambisa after visiting the communities in 2018 with Cupboard2Africa and finally Lucy Dilley, who will be visiting South
Africa and ‘Hands at Work’ for the
first time this summer.
2019 brings some slight changes for the team in size as well
as the time of year that we will be venturing out to South Africa. The team
will be flying out on Sunday 4th August, after the annual Holiday
Club service and BBQ. In preparation of our visit, we have a provisional outline
for our time there, after arriving in South Africa on the Monday we will travel
to the hub and collect some members of the ‘Hands’ service centre team and will
travel to Osheok where we will stay until Friday. Osheok has 3 care points and
we will spend the first week visiting some of them. We will then be completing
a first for the St. Andrews team as we will be staying over in Kruger National
Park for the whole weekend, something we are all very excited about. The second
week we will spend at the ‘Hands at Work’
hub visiting the community of Mafambisa, which will be exiting for the new
members of St Andrews community to visit our partner community, and the other
communities within the Clau-Clau region.
We would all like to thank you for your support so far, and
we ask that you continue to support us, especially in prayer, in the months
leading up to our trip. Please ask us any questions you may have as we would be
more than happy to answer them.
The 2019 Team,
Chris, Alice P, Alice S, Clarrie, Oliver and Lucy
